Ist phase of the new Yogo School built by AMIC
AMIC is a not for profit charity committed to serving the local community as well as abroad. This year we have set our vision on helping to build a school for impoverished children in Yogo, Kenya as well as start a child sponsorship program.
At present the children have been meeting at the local church or outside under an umbrella tree. They have no fixed place to attend, no desks or partitions for the different age groups, nor a place to keep their meagre supplies.
While away on a mission trip to Yogo, Kenya 2009 AMIC was able to purchase land and have since been able to supple enough support to lay down a foundation and the begins of first three rooms which will initiate the permanent school building. The process has begun and now more financial support is necessary to complete the 10 room building which will house the primary and secondary school classes for these children. What an encouragement to this small village in Kenya plagued by AIDS and poverty!
These children in the sponsorship program are the children who would not otherwise be able to afford to go to school and would be subject to a life of poverty their entire life. Helping to educate these little ones by providing a place for them to go to school will enable a community to rise up to their full potential. Education is the gateway to hope out of their poverty, eventually freedom from that poverty and hope for an entire nation!
Please join us in making a difference in the life of a child and eventually a country struggling with so many obstacles to just survive. Education will bring life, new technology; new opportunities to work which in turn will raise standards of living and levels of productivity eventually moving a country from poverty to self sustainability.
Tax receipts are issued for all donations towards the building of the school as well as for sponsorships for the children through Ambassador Ministries in Covenant (AMIC) a registered charity with Revenue Canada. Sponsorships are $40.00/month per child which will allow the child to go to school, be fed two meals a day at school, provide uniforms and shoes and medical assistance if necessary as well as supplies for school.
Please consider sponsoring a child and give a gift that will change the life and potential of one child at a time and the face of this community forever!

For additional information on sponsoring children from Yogo, Kenya, please call Nancy Romme at 613-443-5547 or e-mail nancy_romme@hotmail.ca. Every child is a gift and with the ravaging effects of AIDS so many children have no one to care for them.
Additional Programs:
Women’s Empowerment Program: began a women’s empowerment program with two new Singer sewing machines, material for beginning a reusable sanitary pads (girls in school miss one whole week a month of school and with competition so high for position and grades it almost always takes them out of the picture not to mention the embarrassment of leakage etc.)
Health Clinic: only a small room divided into examination room and dispensary room with almost bare cupboards. We were able to supply some medication for their cupboards and pay for a year their rent so that they can continue to function and pay for a nurse to be on the premises. A new hospital clinic is to be built by the government once enough resources come in.
Orphanage for the abused: Nearby we visited a very passionate man a minister who has a heart for the orphaned and abused children. Some of the children have come to him by being found on the roadside upon delivery or abandoned in the corn fields, others buried alive etc. We were able to take some supplies such as gloves (some of the children are HIV infected), tooth paste and brushes, toys, books, lollipops etc. All were greatly appreciated with very little resources going to them.
If you could like to partner with us in reaching out to the hurting and making a difference please do contact us at Ambassador Ministries in Covenant: vinita_baker@hotmail.com or nancy_romme@hotmail.ca!
Thank you so much for your generous, willing and giving hearts that will make a difference to last a lifetime!
